OKAY publishes an annual list of free, low-cost, or scholarship-available summer programs offered by

church or community organizations in Chapel Hill-Carrboro.

Please let us know if you would like to be on the 2011 list.

Current Concerns

Helping parents provide quality experiences for their children outside of school

During school year e.g. holidays, teacher work days, breaks
Summer Vacation

Agencies/Churches

Helping them to expand their programs and to reach out to other children
Assisting them to provide a meaningful experience for diverse groups

OKAY Brochure

OKAY is . . .

* . . . a group of folks from various churches in the Chapel Hill area.

* . . . concerned about children in our community whose families are not able to provide for special extras.

SITUATION

Families

Many parents work long hours (and sometimes 2 jobs) to provide for basic living expenses, and cannot always be at home when their children are.
Families cannot access community programs - lack of information, cost, transportation, language, schedules.

Agencies/Churches

Do not know how to reach these families in need.
Do not know how to incorporate other children and providing meaningful experiences for a diverse group.
Do not have resources to expand.
